Yankee & Kraut Is Founded
On February 25, 2016, friends Bryan France and Max Senner officially founded Yankee & Kraut in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. France, an American known as the “Yankee,” and Senner, a Bavarian known as the “Kraut,” had been friends since 2005 and were united by a shared interest in beer and its creative possibilities. Senner was 27 years old when the brewery was founded. Yankee & Kraut initially operated as a gypsy-brewing project, with its beers produced in Upper Franconia while the founders worked toward establishing their own brewery in Ingolstadt. Senner remained closely associated with the brewery until his death in 2023 at the age of 34.
