Nova Runda Launches Its First Commercial Beer in Zagreb

On June 21, 2014, Nova Runda publicly introduced its first beer, Nova Runda APA, at Tolkien's House in Zagreb. Founders Marko Filipin and Miroslav Šuvak had begun homebrewing in 2009 and registered their brewing company on June 21, 2013. The launch brought their American pale ale to the market a year after the company's registration. Nova Runda began by arranging production at the Kahli microbrewery in Kučan Marof, near Varaždin, rather than opening its own plant. An Indiegogo campaign helped pay for its first distribution kegs. The beer's production in Kučan Marof and public debut in Zagreb connected the founders' homebrewing experience with a commercial venture built around contract brewing and support from its early community.
