Tap B Is Founded in Split

In 2017, four friends with years of homebrewing experience founded Tap B in Split, Croatia. They had met through the Hmelj homebrewing association and pooled their own money to buy brewing equipment from Slovenia and fit out premises in the city's Trstenik neighborhood. The name combined the initials of their surnames with the English word for a beer tap. In a March 2018 interview, co-founder Hrvoje Paštar explained that a planned December opening had been delayed while the team waited for a permit. He described an initial focus on Trapula, an American pale ale, with an IPA and porter planned to follow. An adjoining brewpub was intended to serve both Tap B's beers and those of other Croatian craft breweries, bringing the founders' homebrewing background into a commercial brewery and meeting place.
