Tax Records Document Brewing in Osijek
Events
Tax records from 1697 document beer production in Tvrđavica and Varoš, settlements within present-day Osijek. The records provide written evidence of brewing businesses in the town at the end of the seventeenth century. This documentary milestone belongs to Osijek’s wider brewing history. The brewery established by Kajetan Šeper in 1856 arose much later, within a town that already had a recorded tradition of making beer.
