In 2021, Zum WØL BrauArt was founded in Saarbrücken, Germany, by the creative partners Lennart and Laura. The brewery emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic, when the founders decided to combine their passion for craft beer and design into a single project. The name "WØL" is derived from their surnames and also references the Scandinavian word "øl," meaning beer. From its founding, Zum WØL BrauArt focused on brewing modern international beer styles while emphasizing creative branding and design. The brewery would later gain international recognition, including winning the World's Best IPA award at the 2025 World Beer Awards for its Black IPA "Wolf Gang."
