Pravda Brewery Suspends Brewing to Support Ukraine’s Defense

Community

On February 27, 2022, days after Russia began its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Pravda Brewery in Lviv suspended its normal beer operations and redirected its facilities and staff toward the national defense effort. The brewery collected bottles and materials and helped prepare incendiary devices for Ukraine’s territorial defenders, while also providing refreshments and support to military and police personnel. Pravda’s response soon expanded beyond the brewery itself. In March, it published recipes and label artwork for several of its beers and invited breweries around the world to produce them as part of its Victory Beer Series and raise money for Ukrainian relief. The initiative transformed a local brewery’s wartime response into an international craft-beer solidarity campaign, linking direct civil resistance with fundraising, public awareness, and hopes for the return of peaceful brewing.
