Francesco Peroni Founds Birra Peroni In Vigevano
Breweries
Francesco Peroni founded Birra Peroni in Vigevano, Lombardy, in 1846. Birra Peroni’s own history states that Peroni started a small beer factory in Vigevano with an adjoining beer hall for local consumption. The founding predates Italian unification and marks the beginning of one of Italy’s best-known brewing companies. Birra Peroni later described its history as an Italian story dating back to 1846, while the company’s Rome expansion followed in 1864.
