Peroni Opens Its Rome Brewery

Francesco Peroni opened a second beer factory in Rome in 1864, near Piazza di Spagna. The Rome branch was entrusted to Giovanni Peroni, Francesco’s son, while Rome was still not yet the capital of the Kingdom of Italy. The new Rome brewery gave Peroni a base in central Italy and became a decisive step in the company’s development beyond its original brewery in Vigevano. After the Rome brewery opened, the company shifted its headquarters to Rome within eight years.
