Schneeeule Closes Its Brewery Business and Berlin Salon

On September 30, 2025, Schneeeule closed its brewery business and its salon on Ofener Strasse in Berlin's Wedding district. Founded by Ulrike Genz in 2016, the specialist producer had built its work around traditional Berliner Weisse. Remaining bottles were offered for collection at the salon before it closed. In explaining the decision, Genz described high operating costs, weak demand for her beers, and difficulties securing production premises. Crowdfunding had raised more than 90,000 euros for a move, but the prospective landlord withdrew, leaving the relocation unresolved. Genz also described the strain of managing production, the salon, and business administration. She left open the possibility of continuing in another setting, making the closure an end to this phase of Schneeeule rather than a renunciation of Berliner Weisse.
