Zundert Becomes An Authentic Trappist Brewery
On December 11, 2013, Zundert received approval to use the Authentic Trappist Product logo for its beer. The beer was brewed at Maria Toevlucht Abbey in the Netherlands by Trappistenbrouwerij De Kievit, making Zundert the second Dutch Trappist beer after La Trappe. The recognition placed Zundert within the modern ATP framework for Trappist beer. Its beer had to be brewed within the immediate surroundings of the abbey, under monastic supervision, with profits directed toward the needs of the monastic community, solidarity within the Trappist Order, or charitable and development work.
