Trierer Petrusbräu Is Launched

On November 23, 2012, Trierer Petrusbräu introduced its locally brewed beer in Trier. The small brewery was founded by four partners who sought to establish another independent beer producer in the Moselle city. Its name recalled the Petrusbräu once produced by Trier’s Caspary Brewery, although the new enterprise was organizationally independent from that historic brewery. In 2013, Petrusbräu established its production brewery in a former carpet warehouse on Windmühlenstraße. Unlike a brewpub that primarily served beer on its own premises, Petrusbräu operated as a stand-alone microbrewery and distributed its beers through local pubs, shops, and beverage retailers. Its arrival broadened Trier’s modern brewing landscape alongside the city’s existing brewpub tradition.
