Ārpus Brewing Co. Is Founded

Breweries

In 2017, Latvian craft-beer enthusiasts founded Ārpus Brewing Co. as an independent microbrewery. Its Latvian name means “outside,” “out of,” “beyond,” or “off limits,” expressing the founders’ intention to brew modern, expressive beers beyond Latvia’s established lager tradition. Ārpus developed an international reputation for juicy hop-forward ales, bold imperial stouts, and intensely fruit-driven sour beers. Its Smoothie Sour Ales use combinations of tropical fruits, berries, vanilla, coconut, and other adjuncts to create thick, dessert-like interpretations of sour beer. These releases made Ārpus a prominent European representative of the modern smoothie- and pastry-sour movement.
