BrewDog Publishes Its Brewing Archive as DIY Dog

Community

On February 25, 2016, BrewDog released DIY Dog, a free digital collection containing detailed recipes for 215 beers from the brewery’s back catalog. The recipes were scaled for homebrewing and included ingredients, target specifications, brewing guidance, and background information. The collection covered beers from BrewDog’s earliest years, including several formulations of Punk IPA. BrewDog presented the release as a contribution to the international homebrewing community from which founders James Watt and Martin Dickie had emerged. DIY Dog gave homebrewers unusually broad access to the production history of a prominent commercial brewery and became a widely used source for recreating and adapting BrewDog beers at home. BrewDog later expanded and revised the archive with additional recipes.
