Messorem Starts Brewing

Messorem is a craft brewery created by three friends — Marc-André Filion, Sébastien Chaput and Vincent Ménard — and opened in 2019 in the south-west of Montréal, Quebec, Canada. All three are passionate beer lovers, with Ménard bringing technical expertise through a brewing degree, an internship at the beloved brewery Auval (whose beers you may have already tried at MH!) and professional brewing experience at Les Trois Mousquetaires. The trio met in the early 2000s in the Montreal underground metal music scene. Each member brings distinct strengths that, combined, make for the perfect brewing venture — one that had been a shared dream for several years. Messorem Bracitorium is their way of turning a mutual passion for beer into everyday work among friends. The name comes from Latin and translates to "the Grim Reaper's brewery" — "Messorem" meaning reaper, mower or harvester, and "Bracitorium" meaning brewery. Messorem specialise in hoppy and sour beers, with a barrel-aging program now also underway. Every beer is brewed to strict criteria, with taste, mouthfeel and appearance held to a very precise standard.
