Einbeck Joins The Hanseatic League
In 1368, Einbeck joined the Hanseatic League. The city already had a strong brewing tradition, and Einbeck tourism describes many burghers as holding brewing rights and brewing beer in their own houses. The Hanseatic connection helped expand the market for Einbeck beer. Einbeck tourism states that Einbeck beer was exported to more than 100 sales locations from Scandinavia to the Alpine foothills, while European Beer Star describes production and trade of Einbeck beer as increasing sharply after the city entered the Hanseatic League.
