Mount Saint Bernard Abbey Starts Brewing Tynt Meadow

Breweries

In 2018, Mount Saint Bernard Abbey in Leicestershire, England, began brewing Tynt Meadow, an English Trappist ale produced at the monastery. The abbey had installed a new artisanal brewery in 2017 and 2018, converting parts of its buildings to create space for brewing, bottling, and packaging. Tynt Meadow is named after the land where the monks first settled in 1835. Its launch made Mount Saint Bernard the first Trappist abbey in the United Kingdom to brew an officially recognized Trappist beer, adding an English strong dark ale to a tradition more closely associated with Belgian and Dutch monastery breweries.
