Guinness Launches Guinness 0.0

On October 26, 2020, Guinness launched Guinness 0.0 in Great Britain, introducing an alcohol-free version of its internationally recognized dry stout. Developed over four years at the St. James’s Gate brewery in Dublin, the beer was brewed with water, barley, hops, and yeast before its alcohol was removed through cold filtration. The process was designed to avoid heating the beer and preserve the characteristic roasted flavor, dark color, and creamy head associated with Guinness Draught. Guinness recalled the first British release in November 2020 after possible microbiological contamination was detected. Following changes intended to improve product quality, Guinness relaunched the beer in 2021 and expanded it into Ireland and additional international markets. Despite the interrupted debut, Guinness 0.0 became an important example of a historic global stout brand placing an alcohol-free product directly within its principal brand family.
