Armand Debelder Takes Charge of 3 Fonteinen’s Gueuze Blendery

In 1982, Gaston Debelder and Raymonde Dedoncker transferred the 3 Fonteinen family business in Beersel to their sons, Armand and Guido. Armand took responsibility for the kitchen and the Gueuze blendery, drawing on the blending knowledge and sensory experience he had learned from his father. Guido became closely associated with the restaurant side of the business. At the time, 3 Fonteinen did not yet brew its own Lambic. Armand selected Lambics produced by other breweries, matured them in wooden barrels, and blended beers of different ages to make Gueuze. He later became a leading advocate for traditional Lambic and Gueuze, helped establish HORAL, and eventually added a brewhouse to 3 Fonteinen during the late 1990s.
