Death Of Anton Dreher

Anton Dreher died in Schwechat on December 27, 1863. He had taken over the Klein-Schwechat brewery in 1836 and became one of the defining figures of 19th-century Central European brewing. Dreher is closely associated with the first Vienna lager, which he began brewing in 1841. His work connected modern malting, bottom fermentation, and industrial-scale brewery management, making him one of the pioneers of the continental lager revolution.
