The Linz Brewhouse Goes Into Operation

Breweries

The Linz brewhouse, located at today’s Donaulände, went into operation in 1638. Brau Union Österreich’s corporate history also notes that some sources mention an earlier brewhouse in 1509, but its documented timeline uses 1638 for the Linz brewhouse entering operation. The opening of the brewhouse made Linz part of Upper Austria’s brewing landscape in the seventeenth century. A history portal of the Province of Upper Austria also states that construction of a brewhouse in Linz began in 1637 and that brewing operations started in 1638.
