Cord Hinrich Haake Establishes His Brewery in Bremen

In 1826, Cord Hinrich Haake established the C. H. Haake brewery in Bremen. The business began in the Wachtstraße in the old city, after Haake had obtained citizenship with commercial rights the previous year. He came from a brewing family: his father had worked as an innkeeper and brewer near Bassum. The brewery developed into one of the businesses behind the later Haake-Beck name. Its operations eventually moved across the Weser to Bremen’s Neustadt, and in 1921 its production was combined with the domestic business of Beck & Co. The 1826 founding therefore marks the beginning of Haake’s separate brewing enterprise, decades before the two names became linked.
