Other Half Brewing Opens in Brooklyn
In January 2014, Sam Richardson, Matt Monahan, and Andrew Burman opened Other Half Brewing Company on Centre Street in Brooklyn, New York. Operating from a small brewery and taproom, the founders set out to make the beers they wanted to drink while representing what they described as the “other half” of the brewing industry. Other Half became particularly associated with intensely hopped India pale ales and attracted a devoted following through frequent releases sold directly from the brewery. Its rapid rise helped establish New York City as an important center of the American craft beer movement and made Other Half one of the most prominent breweries of its generation.
