Linzer Bier Returns To Linz

Linzer Bier returned to brewing in Linz in April 2022, when the Linzer Bier brewery opened in the former power plant of the city’s Tobacco Factory. The revival followed a long interruption: beer had been brewed in Linz for 145 years, but the former Brau AG stopped brewing in the city in 1981, and the old brewhouse was demolished in 1987. The return built on an earlier revival of the Linzer Bier brand. Linzer Bier states that the brand was reintroduced in 2017, while regional tourism sources describe the new brewery as bringing a local beer tradition back into the center of Linz.
