Italian Grape Ale Enters The BJCP Guidelines
Italian Grape Ale entered the Beer Judge Certification Program style guidelines in 2015 as a local Italian beer style. The style combines beer with grapes, grape must, or related grape material, linking Italian craft brewing with the country’s wine culture. The BJCP later described Grape Ale as originally brewed in Italy, with early examples from Birrificio Montegioco and Birrificio Barley in 2006-2007. Birrificio del Ducato also describes Italian Grape Ale as the first Italian beer style recognized and included in the BJCP guidelines.
