Brülosophy Is Founded

In February 2014, homebrewer Marshall Schott launched Brülosophy as a website for publishing and discussing the results of brewing experiments. Schott had begun homebrewing in 2003 and later started testing commonly accepted brewing practices by changing individual variables and comparing the resulting beers. Brülosophy developed its experiments under the name “exBEERiments,” often using blind triangle tests and statistical analysis to examine whether tasters could distinguish between beers produced with different ingredients or processes. The project created a widely accessible body of practical experimental brewing content and encouraged homebrewers to question established assumptions about brewing methods.
