Belgian Beer Weekend Begins in Brussels

In 1998, Belgian Beer Weekend was established to highlight Belgium’s brewing heritage. Held on the Grand-Place in Brussels, the annual festival brings together breweries from across the country and allows the public to explore a broad range of Belgian beer traditions in one of the nation’s most prominent civic spaces. The weekend combines public tastings with ceremonies maintained by the Belgian Brewers and the Knighthood of the Brewers’ Mashstaff. Its program has included the blessing of the beer, processions through Brussels, the induction of new knights, and parades of brewers’ confraternities and historic brewery vehicles. Belgian Beer Weekend presents brewing as both a modern industry and a shared expression of Belgian craftsmanship, community, and cultural heritage.
