Blech.Brut Is Founded In Bamberg

Breweries

In 2018, Benedikt Steger founded Blech.Brut as a craft-beer project in Bamberg, one of Germany’s most historically important beer cities. Steger had previously brewed for craft breweries in Germany, London, and Paris before starting Blech.Brut as a gypsy brewer without its own physical brewery or taproom. Blech.Brut became one of the most visible modern German craft-beer names, especially for balanced dry-hopped lagers, intensely aromatic IPAs, and a strong can-focused visual identity. The brewery’s early production was closely associated with Brauhaus Binkert in the Bamberg region, but that chapter is now historical: Brauhaus Binkert closed in 2025. Current beer listings instead show a stronger production connection between Blech.Brut and Yankee & Kraut in Ingolstadt, linking two highly regarded modern German craft-beer names in the same broader scene.
