Phil and Emily Wymore Found Perennial Artisan Ales in St. Louis

In 2011, Phil and Emily Wymore founded Perennial Artisan Ales in St. Louis, Missouri. Phil Wymore had previously worked in Chicago brewing, including as cellar manager at Goose Island and as head brewer at Half Acre, before returning to Missouri to establish the brewery. Perennial opened in South St. Louis as a small-batch brewery focused on beers that extended beyond the dominant American craft-beer styles of the period. Perennial became particularly associated with experimental and ingredient-driven ales, including strong stouts, Belgian-inspired beers, and barrel-aged releases. It was part of a notable group of craft breweries that opened in St. Louis in 2011, alongside Urban Chestnut, 4 Hands, and Civil Life, helping broaden a beer culture long identified internationally with Anheuser-Busch.
